CORBY people are being urged to have their say on Saturday May 9 when a sneak preview of a new musical all about the town and its people is being staged.
Ideas in development for Made in Corby’s 2016 musical from four professional musical writing teams are to be performed and judged at an afternoon performance event held at The Core on May 9 from 2.30 till 5pm, compered by one of the region’s most successful and popular broadcasters, Richard Oliff. Tickets for this preview are on sale now.
Four professional musical writing teams have been working up their ideas since January. Their brief was developed with the local Corby community and Perfect Pitch, the national company commissioned by Made in Corby.
The 2016 musical is Made in Corby’s third major Big Night Out commission, in a three-year programme funded by Arts Council England that brings high quality artists together with Corby’s communities. In association with Corby Amateur Theatrical Society (CATS) combining amateurs and professional artists, the musical will be performed at The Core at Corby Cube in October 2016.
Perfect Pitch director Andy Barnes said: “This will be an exciting afternoon event on May 9. We’re inviting the people of Corby to come along to see what’s been developed by the writing teams so far and to tell us which of the four ideas they would like to see become a full musical. This is a chance for Corby people to have their say.”
Marian Anderson, marketing and audience development officer for Made in Corby, added: “We want to hear from the Corby audience on the day. Perfect Pitch and professional musical experts along with the producing committee made up of local people will then decide which is the best idea to be taken forward and ‘Made in Corby’. As well as professionals bringing ideas to life, there will also be bonus performances during the afternoon by local groups.”
All preview tickets are £5, available from The Core at Corby Cube ticket office, call: 01536 470 470, 10am-6pm Mon-Sat, or go online: www.thecorecorby.com A £1 transaction fee applies to all telephone and website bookings.
Made in Corby is funded by Arts Council England, as part of its national Creative People and Places programme.
